The Jammu Chapter of the Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH) felicitated its Convenor, SM Sahni, following his nomination to the INTACH Governing Council.

The nomination recognises Sahni’s sustained contribution to heritage conservation, public awareness and community engagement in Jammu and its surrounding regions.

A felicitation programme was organised by the Jammu INTACH Chapter to honour Sahni on the occasion. Those present included Co-Convenor (J&K Chapter) Dr. Chander Mohan Seth, Additional Co-Convenor Dr. Satwant Singh Rissam, Coordinator Heritage Tourism Arvind Kotwal, former J&K Director General of Police S.P. Vaid, Kirpal Singh, Prof. Anil Raina, Senior Advocate Ajay K. Gandotra, along with several civil society members and heritage enthusiasts.

During the programme, chapter members highlighted Sahni’s role in initiating heritage restoration projects, conducting awareness programmes in schools and colleges, and building partnerships with civic bodies for the protection and preservation of historic sites.

Expressing gratitude over his nomination, Sahni thanked the chapter members for their support. He said he would use his position on the Governing Council to advocate for greater resources and more inclusive heritage conservation programmes in Jammu.

Sahni also emphasised the importance of involving young people, artisans and local communities in conservation efforts to ensure the sustainable preservation of the region’s cultural and historical heritage.
