KATHUA, FEB 18: In a major seizure, Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) apprehended two individuals in Kathua district after recovering a huge amount of cash from their possession, officials said on Tuesday.
Official sources told The Newsroom 24 – Awaz, the suspects were traveling in a Kashmir-bound vehicle from Punjab, which was intercepted at Lakhanpur, the gateway to Jammu and Kashmir. During a thorough search, police discovered crores of rupees hidden in a specially built cavity inside the car.
Following the recovery, the Income Tax Department was informed, and the cash seizure was reported for further investigation. The detained individuals, who hail from the Kashmir Valley, are currently being questioned to ascertain the source and intended use of the seized cash.
