Jammu, June 11:

In a major success against drug trafficking, Jammu and Kashmir Police in Kathua recovered approximately 550 grams of heroin-like narcotic substance and arrested an alleged interstate drug smuggler in the Rajbagh area.

According to police, acting on specific intelligence inputs, a special naka was established by a team from Police Station Rajbagh, assisted by Police Post Marheen, at Banyari village under the supervision of senior officers.

During checking, the police intercepted a suspect identified as Puppy, son of Shah Din, a resident of Kalichpur, Dinanagar in Punjab’s Gurdaspur district, who was reportedly travelling from Punjab towards Marheen via the border road.

During the search, police recovered approximately 550 grams of heroin-like substance from his possession. The contraband was seized on the spot and the accused was taken into custody.

A case under FIR No. 135/2026 has been registered at Police Station Rajbagh under relevant sections of the NDPS Act, and further investigation is underway.

The operation was conducted under the overall supervision of Mohita Sharma.

Kathua Police has appealed to the public to share information regarding drug trafficking and other illegal activities through emergency helpline 112 or 9858034100, assuring that the identity of informants will be kept confidential.
