Bovine Smugglers

UDHAMPUR, DEC 31: In a decisive action against bovine smuggling, Udhampur Police on Tuesday detained two habitual offenders under the Jammu & Kashmir Public Safety Act (PSA) on the orders of the District Magistrate.

As per the statement issued to The Newsroom 24 – Awaz, the accused, identified as Raj Ali, son of Barkat Ali, resident of Mantalai, and Ghulam Qadir, son of Mazin Din, resident of Jig Ganshad, were notorious for their repeated involvement in bovine smuggling. Multiple cases had been registered against them at Police Station Chenani, and despite warnings, they persisted in their unlawful activities.

Authorities cited the threat to communal harmony posed by their actions as a key factor behind the detention. Their continued engagement in illegal activities necessitated the imposition of the PSA to curb their operations and ensure peace in the region.
