Jammu, Dec 24:
In a significant boost to the National Pulse Polio Immunization Campaign, Northern Railway’s Jammu Division successfully concluded its three-day vaccination drive today. The campaign, which turned the busy transit hub into a massive health outpost, ensured that children on the move were not left behind in India’s fight to remain polio-free.
From December 21 to December 23, Jammu Railway Station served as a critical node for the immunization effort. In collaboration with the Family Welfare Department, the Railway administration established high-visibility vaccination booths at: Main Entrance Gate: For arriving and departing local families, Platform Booths: To reach passengers waiting for long-distance trains. On-Board Teams: Mobile health workers who boarded trains to ensure no child in transit missed their dose.
The drive focused on the “zero to five” age group, achieving impressive numbers despite the heavy winter travel rush.
Senior Divisional Commercial Manager (Sr. DCM), Mr. Uchit Singhal, praised the seamless coordination between railway staff and health volunteers. “The railway administration provided all possible assistance, from continuous public address announcements to the prominent display of banners across the station,” Mr. Singhal stated. “We successfully achieved our immunization targets, reflecting our steadfast commitment to the national goal of keeping India polio-free.”
The initiative was specifically designed to catch “missed” children—those traveling with families who might have missed the booth days in their home districts. Public Relations Inspector Raghvender Singh noted that the success of the campaign relied heavily on the proactive approach of health workers who approached families directly on the platforms.
Health officials will continue to monitor transit points throughout the week to maintain the momentum of the National Immunization Day (NID) 2025.
