Jammu, Feb 23:
Security forces in the Akhnoor sector are on high alert following the recovery of two suspicious balloons of Pakistani origin in Village Gunara, Nili Nallah. The recovery has sparked a high-level investigation due to the unusual items found attached to the balloons.
The Discovery
The incident occurred within the jurisdiction of the Khour Police Station. Local residents first spotted the balloons descending into the fields of Gunara village and immediately alerted the authorities. A police team rushed to the spot and took the objects into custody.
Disturbing Contents Found
Unlike previous incidents involving simple toy balloons, this recovery has raised significant security concerns due to the specific items found:
-
Pakistani Mobile Number: A clear mobile number was printed or attached to the balloons.
-
Scanner Image: A picture of a scanner was found printed on the surface of the balloons.
-
Dual Currency: Authorities recovered both Pakistani and US currency from the payload.
Investigation Underway
The Khour Police have seized all materials and launched a thorough probe to determine the origin and intent behind this “airdrop.” Intelligence agencies are investigating whether this was a deliberate attempt at communication or a tactical probe by elements across the border.
“The balloons have been taken into custody for forensic analysis. We are looking into the significance of the printed scanner image and the mobile number provided,” said an official source.
