Suicide Attempt

DODA, JAN 02:  In a commendable act of swift response, Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) on Thursday successfully rescued a 20-year-old man who was on the verge of committing suicide by jumping off a cliff at Khellani area of Doda district.

As per the release issued to The Newsroom 24 – Awaz, a distress call was received at Police Post Khellani through Dial-112, reporting that Manish Kumar, son of Mohinder Kumar and a resident of Paryote, Doda, was attempting to end his life.

Upon receiving the information, a police team led by PSI Manish Singh, In-charge of Police Post Khellani, immediately rushed to the spot. Displaying remarkable presence of mind and tact, the team managed to prevent the young man from taking the extreme step.

The rescued individual was then brought to the police post, where he was counseled. Following initial inquiries, he was handed over safely to his family.

Local residents have lauded the efforts of the police in saving a precious life and acting promptly to prevent a tragedy. The incident underscores the importance of mental health awareness and the critical role played by law enforcement in addressing such crises.
