DODA, JAN 02: Demonstrating swift action, the Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) on Thursday successfully recovered 15 stolen mobile phones and other electronic gadgets worth Rs 2.50 lakh within hours of the theft in Doda district. The incident occurred at a mobile shop in Bhargi Morh, Gandoh, and three suspects have been arrested in connection with the case.
As per the statement issued to The Newsroom 24 – Awaz, the theft took place during the night of January 1, 2025. The shop owner, Mohd Asif, son of Nisar Ali and a resident of Raj Pura, Gandoh, lodged a complaint at the Gandoh Police Station on January 1, reporting the theft of mobile phones, headphones, power banks, and earbuds after the lock on his shop was broken.
A case under FIR No. 01/2025 U/S 331(4)/305BNS was registered, and the police promptly launched an investigation. Acting on the directions of SSP Doda, Sandeep Mehta (JKPS), a special team led by SHO Gandoh, Inspector Shah Nawaz Giri, and supervised by SDPO Gandoh, Raj Kumar Koul, was formed.
The team interrogated several suspects and activated sources to track the culprits. During questioning, three accused – Mohd Aslam, son of Mohd Abass, and Mohd Yasir, son of Mohd Hussain, both residents of Dherveri, Gandoh, along with Mohd Shamim, son of Abdul Qayoom, a resident of Gwari, Gandoh – confessed to the crime.
Following their disclosures, police conducted a raid and recovered the stolen items from their possession. Further investigations are underway to determine their involvement in other thefts across the district. The police have not ruled out the possibility of additional arrests in connection with this case.
