UDHAMPUR, DEC 10: Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) in collaboration with the Social Welfare Department and the Special Cell for Women on Tuesday organized an awareness programme to mark the ongoing 16 Days of Activism Campaign 2024. The campaign, themed “Stop Violence Against Women and Girls,” focuses on raising awareness and promoting gender equality.
As per the statement issued to The Newsroom 24 – Awaz, the event was chaired by DIG Udhampur-Reasi Range, Rayees Mohd. Bhat (IPS), and SSP Udhampur, Amod Ashok Nagpure (IPS), alongside Kanika Gupta, District Social Welfare Officer. Also present were professional social workers Azra Parveen and Sheetal from the Special Cell for Women, Udhampur.
The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from school and college students, who performed a thought-provoking act to highlight the issue of violence against women. Their performance resonated with the audience, bringing attention to the importance of combating gender-based violence.
DIG Rayees Mohd. Bhat emphasized the need to uphold women’s rights and called on all stakeholders to actively contribute to empowering women and fostering gender-neutral values. He urged the community to unite in preventing violence against women and girls.
The event concluded with a collective resolve to work together toward eradicating gender-based violence, leaving attendees with a sense of shared responsibility and hope for a safer and more inclusive society.
