UDHAMPUR, JAN 03: In a decisive action against bovine smuggling, Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) on Friday intercepted a vehicle and rescued 24 bovines being transported illegally at Tikri area of Udhampur district. The operation also led to the arrest of an inter-state smuggler involved in the crime.
As per the release The Newsroom 24 – Awaz received, during routine vehicle checking at a naka point in Tikri, a team from Police Post Tikri, led by the in-charge, stopped a Canter bearing registration number HR63C-5664 for inspection. Upon checking, the police found 24 bovines cruelly tied inside the vehicle, which were being transported without valid permission.
The driver of the vehicle, identified as Sabnoor, son of Jamil, a resident of Nakur, Saharanpur Road, Khazoor, Heri, Uttar Pradesh, was arrested on the spot. The rescued bovines were safely shifted to a secure location.
A case has been registered under FIR No. 02/2025, Sections 223 BNS and 11 PCA Act, at Police Station Rehambal. Further investigation is underway to identify and apprehend other individuals involved in the smuggling network.
