SAMBA, JAN 08: Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) on Wednesday have successfully solved a theft case involving stolen items worth approximately ₹2 lakhs, arrested five individuals, and recovered the stolen property in Samba district.
As per the release issued to The Newsroom 24 – Awaz, the case was registered on January 2, 2025, at Police Station Samba following a complaint by Rakesh Kumar, son of Bishan Dass, resident of Deon, Bari Brahmana. Rakesh, who works in the District Court Samba, reported the theft of water taps and electrical wires from Judicial Quarters, District Court Complex Samba.
Based on the complaint, a case under FIR No. 02/2025 U/S 331(4)/305 BNS was registered, and an investigation was initiated. A police team led by the SHO Samba, under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Samba and SSP Samba, conducted extensive inquiries and arrested five suspects.
The accused were identified as: 1. Sunil Kumar, son of Hari Kumar, resident of Muradhawad (UP), presently residing in Shiv Nagar, Vijaypur. 2. Ganesh Kumar, son of Janak Raj, resident of Vijaypur. 3. Mohd. Maqbool, son of Mohd. Ibrahim Das, resident of Bandipura, presently residing in Vijaypur. 4. Karan Lal, son of Mohan Lal, resident of Shiv Nagar, Vijaypur. 5. Vishavjeet Dass, son of Gurdass, resident of Gali Hukam Gate, Amritsar, presently residing in Shiv Nagar, Vijaypur.
Upon sustained interrogation, the accused confessed to the crime, leading to the recovery of the stolen items.
