DODA, NOV 28: Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) on Thursday had taken swift action against a juvenile for allegedly spreading hateful comments on social media, which were deemed harmful to religious sentiments and posed a potential threat to law and order in the area.

As per police release issued to The Newsroom 24 – Awaz, a complaint was lodged at Police Station Doda against the juvenile (name withheld) for posting inflammatory remarks on social media. The comments reportedly hurt religious sentiments and raised concerns about a possible escalation of tensions in the region.

An FIR No. 290/2024 was registered under Sections 299/352 BNS and 67 of the IT Act. Acting promptly, police teams were dispatched to various locations, and raids were conducted during the night to apprehend the accused. The security grid in the district was also placed on high alert to ensure the safety of citizens.

With the support of local residents, the juvenile was apprehended and presented before the Principal Magistrate of the Juvenile Justice Board in Doda. Following the court’s orders, the accused has been lodged for 15 days in an observation home in Jammu.

SSP Doda, Sandeep Mehta, stated, “No lawbreaker will be spared. Action under the law will be taken against anyone who attempts to disrupt the district’s peace and harmony.”
