Doda, Sept 10: The Rural Development Department has suspended a Panchayat Secretary posted in Jakyas block of Doda district following a viral video on social media alleging corruption.
As per an official order issued by the Directorate of Rural Development Department, Jammu, Chanchal Singh, Panchayat Secretary, Block Jakyas, District Doda, has been placed under suspension with immediate effect, pending an inquiry into the allegations.
During the suspension period, Singh has been attached with the office of the Assistant Commissioner Development (ACD), Udhampur, the order stated.
The department has also appointed Neeraj Sharma, JKAS, Assistant Commissioner Panchayat, Kishtwar, as the Inquiry Officer to conduct an in-depth inquiry into the matter.
The Inquiry Officer has been directed to submit a factual and detailed inquiry report, along with specific recommendations, to the Directorate within 15 days positively.
The action comes in the wake of a viral video circulating on social media platforms in which allegations of corruption were levelled against the Panchayat Secretary.
