REASI, NOV 29: Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) on Friday booked a notorious drug peddler under Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (PITNDPS) and lodged him in a Central Jail Kotbhalwal in Jammu district.
As per the release issued to The Newsroom 24 – Awaz, continuing “Nasha Mukt Reasi Abhiyaan” in Reasi and in major strike on drug peddlers Police in Reasi detained a notorious drug peddler of Reasi .
Police said that Mohan Lal son of Sandokhu Ram resident of Keshav Nagar, Ward No.11 Mathyal Katra Tehsil Katra District Reasi who is involved in case FIR No. 42/2024 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act of P/S Katra, FIR No. 112/2024 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act of P/S Katra and DDR No. 37 dated 29.10.2024 of P/S Katra was detained under PITNDPS Act under the order No. 47 of 2024 dated 27-11-2024, issued by Divisional Commissioner, Jammu.
Besides booking under NDPS Act a number of times he was warned to shun the path of supplying drugs to the youth of Katra. However he remained on continuous mission of minting money by supplying banned drug to youth of Katra. In view of his continuous involvement in drug peddling and to save the health and welfare of the society it was necessary to book him under stringent law.
On the directions of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Reasi his dossiers for PITNDPS was prepared and after getting necessary detention order, Mohan Lal was detained by the team of Police Station Katra and was lodged in Central Jail Kotbhalwal Jammu.
SSP Reasi while sharing the details conveyed that Reasi Police is working on multipronged strategy to deal with the problem of drug abuse, on one hand awareness programs are being organized in every nook and corner of the district and on the other hand drug peddlers are being booked under NDPS Act.
