DODA, FEB 20: The Legal Metrology Department (LMD) Doda on Thursday took prompt action following a complaint about an underweight LPG cylinder at Gas Agency Bhaderwah, ensuring consumer rights were upheld.
As per the statement issued to The Newsroom 24 – Awaz, the department conducted a thorough inspection in the presence of the complainant, during which 33 LPG cylinders were randomly weighed to verify their net weight. While most cylinders met the correct specifications, the one in question was found to be 2.8 kg short of the required weight.
The LMD promptly booked the gas agency under relevant legal provisions for short weighment and provided the complainant with a new LPG cylinder, ensuring immediate redressal. Expressing satisfaction with the department’s swift response, the complainant also praised Assistant Controller LMD Doda for his proactive efforts and urged the public to stay vigilant when purchasing LPG cylinders.
Reaffirming its commitment to consumer rights, the LMD Doda encouraged citizens to report any discrepancies in the weighment of essential commodities. The department emphasized its dedication to ensuring fair trade practices and announced plans to conduct regular inspection drives to prevent such violations in the future.
