KATHUA, DEC 10: In a major breakthrough in the ongoing War on Drugs, the Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) in Kathua apprehended a drug peddler and seized approximately 5.95 grams of heroin (chitta) in the Bhagthali area under the jurisdiction of PS Kathua on Tuesday. A motorbike involved in the illegal activity was also confiscated.
As per the statement issued to The Newsroom 24 – Awaz, the arrest took place during a routine naka and patrolling conducted by a police team under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Kathua and SHO PS Kathua. During the operation, the police intercepted a suspect identified as Mohd. Sadiq, son of Sher Ali, a resident of Chan Charkhari, Mathra Chak in Kathua district.
Sadiq was found roaming suspiciously on his motorbike, bearing registration number JK08P-3615, in the Bhagthali area. Upon conducting a physical search, the police recovered approximately 5.95 grams of heroin-like narcotics from his possession. Following this, the narcotics and the motorbike were seized, and the accused was arrested on the spot.
A case has been registered under FIR No. 391/2024 under Sections 8/21/22/29 of the NDPS Act at PS Kathua, and further investigations are underway.
