The Making of Aadhaar

KATRA, DEC 27: Dr. Ram Sewak Sharma, a celebrated bureaucrat and former Chairman of the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), presented his acclaimed book, The Making of Aadhaar: World’s Largest Identity Platform, to Prof. Pragati Kumar, Vice-Chancellor of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU). The presentation took place during Dr. Sharma’s visit to the university campus.

The book provides a detailed account of the creation of Aadhaar, the world’s largest biometric identification system that has transformed identity verification for over 1.3 billion Indians. It highlights the technological, administrative, and policy hurdles overcome during the project’s execution, which has become a cornerstone for digital inclusion and governance in India.

Expressing her admiration for Dr. Sharma’s contributions, Prof. Kumar remarked, “Aadhaar is not just a technological milestone but a testament to India’s innovative spirit. This book will be an inspiration and a resource for academicians, policymakers, and technologists alike.”

The event also featured a stimulating discussion on the future of digital identity and its role in nation-building. Dr. Sharma emphasized the significance of technology-driven governance and continuous innovation in fostering inclusive growth.

As part of his ongoing efforts to share insights and inspire young minds, Dr. Sharma’s visit to SMVDU aligns with his mission to engage with academicians and students. Copies of The Making of Aadhaar will soon be available in the university library to encourage research into scalable solutions for societal challenges.
