SRINAGAR, JAN 05: Police Station Nowhatta registered a case against a conman who allegedly defrauded an individual of Rs 30,000 by falsely promising to secure the release of his brother from police custody.
As per the complaint filed by Showkat Ahmad Sheikh, a resident of Zahid Pora, Hawal, the accused, identified as Fayaz Ahmad Sheikh of Sheikh Colony, Makhdoom Sahib, deceitfully claimed to have influence and took the money to arrange the release of Showkat’s brother, Sajad Sheikh. Sajad was lawfully arrested by Nowhatta Police in connection with FIR No. 55/2024 under Sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act.
Acting on the complaint, Nowhatta Police registered case FIR No. 01/2025 under Section 318 of the BNS. During the investigation, the police successfully recovered the entire amount from the accused.
