UDHAMPUR, DEC 10: The District Police of Udhampur on Tuesday successfully foiled an attempt to smuggle bovines, rescuing 13 animals and seizing a vehicle in the process. The incident occurred at the Roundomail naka point under the jurisdiction of Police Post Roundomail.
As per the statement issued to The Newsroom 24 – Awaz, a vehicle bearing registration number JK14G-6357 was intercepted at the naka point. However, the driver abandoned the vehicle approximately 100 meters before reaching the checkpoint and fled the scene.
The police team promptly rescued all 13 bovines and ensured their safety. The vehicle used for the smuggling attempt has been seized.
A case has been registered under FIR No. 493/2024 U/S 223(a) BNS and Section 11 of the PCA Act at Police Station Udhampur. Further investigation into the matter is underway.
The Udhampur Police reiterated their commitment to curbing illegal activities in the district and ensuring the safety of all animals.
