Bovine Smuggling

JAMMU, JAN 05:  The Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) on Sunday successfully thwarted a bovine smuggling attempt in the Pounichak area under its ongoing operation Kamdhenu. Acting on a tip-off, a police team from the Pounichak Police Post and Border Police Post (BPP) Sandwan intercepted a vehicle transporting bovines illegally.

According to officials, the Ashoka Leyland pickup bearing registration number JK02DJ 9605 was traveling from the Tawi area toward SOS Gujjar Basti when it was stopped at Seora Nandini. Taking advantage of the darkness, the driver fled the scene, abandoning the vehicle.

Five bovines were rescued, and the vehicle was seized. An FIR has been registered at Police Station Domana under relevant sections of the law.
