Fire Tragedy

SRINAGAR, FEB 19: A swift response from the Indian Army helped douse a fire that broke out at a residential house in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Wednesday, preventing the blaze from spreading to nearby homes, officials said.

The fire erupted at the residence of Mohammad Arif Khan in a remote village around 1:15 pm, reportedly due to a short circuit. Upon receiving the alert, the army’s Quick Reaction Team (QRT) was dispatched and reached the site within 15 minutes.

“Troops, alongside the Qalamabad fire brigade, swiftly worked to control the flames, ensuring the fire didn’t spread to neighboring houses,” an army official said. The army personnel played a crucial role in fire suppression, crowd management, and ensuring public safety, successfully averting casualties and minimizing property damage.

Locals praised the army’s prompt action, crediting them with preventing a larger tragedy. “Their timely intervention saved not just one home but the entire neighborhood,” said a resident.

The army official further urged residents to follow fire safety precautions to avoid such incidents in the future, reaffirming the army’s commitment to supporting civilians in emergencies.
