JAMMU, DEC 10: Army Public School (APS) Damana celebrated its Annual Sports Day for the Junior Wing (Balvatika I to Class V) with great enthusiasm on Tuesday. The event was graced by the Chairman of the school as the Chief Guest and the Chairperson of FWO Chenab Brigade as the Guest of Honour, alongside other dignitaries and parents.
As per the statement issued to The Newsroom 24 – Awaz, the festivities commenced with a warm welcome by Pushpinder Kaur, Principal of the school. The program began with a Torch Run led by Junior Sports Captain Ayansh Sharma (Class V) and the ceremonial release of colorful balloons by the Guest of Honour, symbolizing the opening of the event. The lighting of the ceremonial lamp and a soulful Saraswati Vandana set a reverent tone.
The event featured a synchronized March Past by four house contingents and the Cubs and Bulbul Contingent from the Junior Wing, captivating the audience. Students participated enthusiastically in a variety of races, including Threads and Beads, Button Up the Shirt, Hurdle Race, and Relay Race. Their spirited performances demonstrated remarkable skill, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
Adding to the excitement were vibrant displays of Bhartyam and Yoga by students from Pre-Nursery to Class V, showcasing the school’s focus on physical fitness and cultural awareness. During the prize distribution ceremony, winners of various races were honored with medals, and the audience, including zealous parents, applauded the participants’ efforts.
The Chairman, in his address, emphasized the role of sports in fostering stamina, stress management, and self-belief among students. He encouraged them to participate in more sports competitions to channel their energy into positive pursuits. Headmistress Anurita Koul commended the students for their dedication and highlighted how sports activities instill discipline, perseverance, and resilience.
The event concluded on a patriotic note with the singing of the National Anthem, followed by light refreshments, leaving attendees inspired and energized.
