Kathua, September 11: The death toll in the Sarthal road accident in Kathua district has risen to two after one of the injured persons succumbed to his injuries on Friday.
According to officials, a Baleno car met with a major accident at Sarthal Mode in Tehsil Bani of Kathua district.
In the initial aftermath of the accident, Monika, wife of Suveer Kotwal, 29, a resident of Dandi Bhaderwah, was declared dead.
Later, Balwant Kotwal, son of Bajnath Kotwal, 61, also a resident of Dandi Bhaderwah, who had sustained injuries in the accident, succumbed to his injuries.
With the latest fatality, two persons have lost their lives while three others sustained injuries in the accident.
The injured have been identified as Suveer Kotwal, son of Balwan Singh, 33, of Dandi Bhaderwah; Parshanta Kotwal, son of Balwant, 59, of Bhaderwah; and Vikram Singh, son of Ranjeet Singh, 33, of Purkhu Damana, Jammu.
The injured persons were shifted to a hospital for treatment.
Police have taken cognizance of the incident and initiated necessary proceedings.
