BARAMULLA, MAR 24: The Government Degree College (GDC) Baramulla on Saturday successfully hosted the district round of the Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament 2025, bringing together students from Baramulla, Kupwara, and Bandipora to engage in thought-provoking discussions on India’s development.
Themed ‘One Nation, One Election: Paving the Way for Viksit Bharat’, the event provided a platform for young minds to deliberate on crucial democratic reforms. Prof. Tariq Ahmad Chalkoo, Staff Secretary of GDC Baramulla and Vice Chairman of the event, inaugurated the session, emphasizing the role of youth-led discourse in shaping India’s future governance.
Held under the supervision of the District Level Committee, chaired by Principal Prof. Mohammad Shafi Lone, the program witnessed enthusiastic participation. After rigorous deliberations, the top ten participants were selected to represent Baramulla at the State-level competition, with Ulfat Hafiz securing the first position, followed by Shahid Dar in second place and Tasaduq Hussain in third.
In his concluding address, Principal Prof. Mohammad Shafi Lone commended the participants for their debating skills and intellectual engagement. He highlighted the significance of such platforms in nurturing responsible and visionary youth. He also extended gratitude to the jury members, faculty, NSS volunteers, and the organizing committee for their contributions to the event’s success.
Jury members shared valuable insights, encouraging students to approach discussions with open minds and diverse perspectives. The event concluded with the distribution of participation certificates to all students and mementos for jury members as a token of appreciation.
