DODA, SEPT 28: An Alto car bearing registration number JK17A 4753 met with a tragic accident in Doda’s Garsoo Pul area, plunging into the Chenab River. The vehicle was traveling from Srinagar towards Drabshalla when it lost control and fell into the river.
Two bodies have been retrieved from the scene and identified as: Summaya Tabasum (17 Yrs), daughter of Raiz Ahmed, resident of Bhella, Doda and Imran Hussain (46 Yrs), son of Shams Din, resident of Saroor, Drabshalla, Kishtwar.
Another passenger, Iqra Banoo (17 Yrs), daughter of Tanveer Ahmed, from Saroor, Drabshalla, Kishtwar, was rescued by the joint efforts of SDRF, JKP and locals people. She was rushed to Government Medical College (GMC) Doda for treatment and is currently under medical care.
Authorities are continuing their investigation into the cause of the accident, while further search and rescue operations are being carried out to ensure no other passengers remain unaccounted for.
