Jammu, Feb 3:
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) continued its aggressive crackdown on the terror ecosystem in Jammu and Kashmir, conducting a fresh round of searches in Srinagar early Tuesday morning. This follows a massive multi-district operation carried out just 24 hours prior.
Latest Action: Rainawari Under Scanner
On Tuesday, NIA teams, supported by local police and paramilitary forces, descended upon the Hazari Bazar locality in the Rainawari area of Srinagar.
-
The Target: A residential house belonging to a suspect allegedly linked to the logistical and financial support networks of proscribed terror outfits.
-
The Goal: Officials stated the search is part of a broader probe into the “terror ecosystem”—a network involving over-ground workers (OGWs) and radicalization hubs that sustain militancy in the Valley.
Monday’s Mega Sweep: 6 Locations, 3 Districts
Tuesday’s raid follows a series of coordinated searches conducted on Monday, February 2, which targeted high-profile individuals across North and Central Kashmir.
Locations and Key Figures Targeted:
| District | Location | Targeted Premises |
| Baramulla | Bomai | Former Jamaat-e-Islami leader Ghulam Ahmad Sheikh and former militant Iqbal Sheikh |
| Baramulla | Rafiabad | Former government employee Mohammad Munwar Mir |
| Baramulla | Sopore | Former government employee Farooq Ahmad Peer (Model Town) |
| Bandipora | Bandipora Town | Retired teacher Mohammad Maqbool Mir |
| Srinagar | Parimpora | Residence of Zahoor-ul-Raheem |
The “Terror Ecosystem” Probe
The NIA’s current strategy focuses on dismantling the non-combatant support structures of terrorism. By targeting former leaders of banned organizations like Jamaat-e-Islami, as well as retired government employees and teachers, the agency aims to choke the funding and ideological pathways that lead to recruitment and radicalization.
During the raids, officials reportedly seized several “incriminating materials,” including digital devices, documents, and financial records. These items are currently being analyzed to establish links between local suspects and their handlers across the border.
This heightened activity comes as the Union Territory prepares for the visit of Home Minister Amit Shah on February 5. Security has been beefed up across Srinagar, and more searches are expected as the NIA follows up on the leads generated from the seized electronic evidence.
