Jammu, Feb 5:

In a major push for accountability in the education sector, Chief Education Officer (CEO) Rajouri, Mohd Hafiz, conducted a series of surprise inspections across several government schools on Thursday. The visit resulted in the immediate suspension of three teachers and a stern warning to school heads regarding dereliction of duty.

Schools Under Scrutiny

The CEO’s surprise visit focused on educational institutions within the Municipal limits of Rajouri, including:

  • Government High School (GHS), Jawahar Nagar

  • PM Shri Boys Middle School (BMS), Jawahar Nagar

  • Middle School (MS), Ward Number 8

Major Findings & Disciplinary Action

The inspection unearthed “serious irregularities” that the department says compromise the quality of education provided to students.

  • Suspensions: At Middle School (MS) Ward Number 8, three teachers were placed under immediate suspension after they were found missing from their posts without any prior authorization or known whereabouts during school hours.

  • Show-Cause Notices: Other defaulting staff members across the inspected schools have been directed to submit written explanations for various lapses within two days.

    Zero-Tolerance Policy

CEO Mohd Hafiz expressed deep concern over unauthorized leaves and poor punctuality, noting that such negligence directly harms the academic interests of the students.

“Attendance, punctuality, and accountability are non-negotiable. We have a zero-tolerance policy toward indiscipline, and any further laxity will invite even stricter action under service rules,” stated Mohd Hafiz.

Key Directives to Heads of Institutions

Moving forward, the CEO has issued a set of mandatory instructions for school administrators:

  1. Strict Monitoring: Principals and Headmasters must closely track teaching staff movements.

  2. Timetable Adherence: Strict compliance with the prescribed academic timetable is required.

  3. Performance Focus: Heads must ensure active classroom engagement and work toward improving student results.
