Shiv Sena (UBT) Intensifies ‘Save Jammu’ Drive; Illegal Migrants Flee as Stalls Are Razed in Bari Brahmana

The Shiv Sena (UBT) Jammu and Kashmir unit has significantly scaled up its campaign to identify and deport illegal immigrants. In a high-tension drive held today at Bari Brahmana, party activists targeted settlements and stalls allegedly operated by illegal Rohingyas and Bangladeshis, leading to chaotic scenes and the destruction of abandoned property.

Campaign at Bari Brahmana Railway Station

Led by State President Manish Sahni, a large contingent of Shiv Sena workers gathered near the Bari Brahmana railway station. The party launched a public awareness initiative titled “Mai Bhartiya – Mera Bharat Mahan,” distributing patriotic stickers and urging local street vendors to help identify “suspect” illegal immigrants in their vicinity.

Suspected Migrants Flee; Belongings Set Ablaze

The atmosphere turned volatile when the team approached several roadside stalls. According to party leaders, several individuals—suspected to be illegal Bangladeshi and Rohingya nationals—fled the scene immediately upon spotting the activists, leaving their merchandise and stalls behind.

Infuriated by the presence of these alleged illegal businesses, the Shiv Sena members gathered the abandoned belongings and set them on fire. Sahni claimed that this was a “spontaneous reaction” to the realization that illegal immigrants were “encroaching on local resources.”

Security and Social Concerns

Addressing the media during the protest, Manish Sahni issued a stern warning, demanding that all illegal Rohingyas and Bangladeshis leave Jammu and Kashmir immediately.

“These illegal colonies on the outskirts of Jammu are a ticking time bomb for our internal security. They are not only usurping our resources but are also involved in criminal activities like theft, human trafficking, and drug peddling,” Sahni stated.

Police Informed

The party confirmed that the concerned local police station was notified before the start of the campaign. Several key party leaders were present during the drive, including: Vikas Bakshi, Raj Singh, Sanjeev Kohli, Balwant Singh and Pawan Singh.

The Ongoing Debate: Illegal Immigration in J&K

The presence of foreign nationals has been a flashpoint in Jammu’s politics for years. According to government data, thousands of Rohingyas and Bangladeshis are settled in various clusters across the Jammu division.

Key Concerns Raised

Security: Concerns over radicalization and lack of documentation, Economic: Alleged “encroachment” on local street vending and small trades and Criminal: Increase in reports of drug smuggling and petty theft in fringe colonies.

The Shiv Sena (UBT) has vowed to continue this campaign across other districts of the Union Territory until a formal verification and deportation process is fully implemented.
