Jammu, January 12:
Highlighting the power of creativity as the “conscience of society,” Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha today called for a collective movement to reimagine Jammu Kashmir as a premier global destination for art and culture.
Speaking at the Golden Jubilee celebration of the Kesar Art Circle at Kala Kendra, Jammu, the LG emphasized that the region’s spiritual and cultural roots are the foundation upon which its creative future must be built.
During his address, LG Sinha described art as far more than just a luxury or a form of entertainment. He framed it as a vital force that shapes societal thinking and fosters national unity.

The Lieutenant Governor noted that throughout history, art forms like painting and sculpture have given voice to emotions that transcend language, fostering the empathy and social cohesion necessary for a thriving democracy.
Honoring a Lifetime of Creativity
A key highlight of the event was the felicitation of Shri Bhushan Kesar, the renowned painter and founder of the Kesar Art Circle. The LG lauded Kesar’s five decades of service, during which he mentored thousands of artists who have achieved global recognition.

A Call to the Youth and Creatives
Directing his message toward the younger generation, the LG urged them to embrace art as a medium to preserve their cultural identity while contributing to the vision of a Viksit Bharat (Developed India).
He challenged painters and writers to take the lead in building the artistic future of the UT, stating that preservation of sacred heritage is the essential foundation for creating a modern, creative society.
