Jammu Jan 22:

With Republic Day just days away, the Jammu and Kashmir Police have significantly intensified security across the winter capital. In a major move to preempt any subversive attempts, a large-scale security operation was launched today in the Domana and Kanachak areas, targeting several sensitive pockets along the periphery of the city.

Intensive Raids in SOS Gol Gujral and Rajpura

Under the leadership of SDPO Domana, Mudassir Hussain, police teams conducted rapid raids and search operations in SOS Gol Gujral, Kheriyan, and Rajpura. The high-visibility operation created a significant stir in the localities as security personnel established a tight perimeter to conduct door-to-door checks.

The crackdown follows specific directives from SSP Jammu Joginder Singh and SP Rural Jammu Brijesh Sharma, who have ordered a “zero-tolerance” policy toward any activities that could threaten the peace during the national festival.

High-Level Coordination on the Ground

The operation saw a massive mobilization of local police leadership, ensuring every sector was thoroughly sanitized. Key officials present on the ground included:

  • SHO Domana: Varuneshwar Singh

  • SHO Kanachak: Manoj Dhar

  • In-charge Police Post Pauni Chak: Amrik Singh

  • In-charge Gajansoo Police Post: Maroof Ahmed

  • In-charge Sandhwa Border Police Post: Rajveer Singh

During the operation, residents were questioned, and a sharp watch was maintained on “floating populations” and suspicious movement in the border-adjacent areas.

“No Laxity Tolerated”

Police officials speaking to the media emphasized that these raids are part of a broader “Area Domination” exercise. With intelligence inputs suggesting heightened threats across the Union Territory, the police are leaving nothing to chance.

“Any attempt to disturb the peace or disrupt the Republic Day celebrations will be dealt with iron hands. These operations will not only continue but will be further intensified in the coming 72 hours,” stated a senior official involved in the raids.

The general public has been urged to cooperate with security forces during these precautionary checks and to report any suspicious objects or individuals to the nearest police post immediately.
