Jammu, January 8:
In a major boost for travelers and pilgrims, the Northern Railway (Jammu Division) has announced the extension of the Special Reserved Train No. 04081/04082, running between New Delhi and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra. The decision comes in response to an overwhelming surge in passenger demand and the massive success of its previous runs.
Originally scheduled to conclude in early January, the service has been granted additional trips to ensure a smooth travel experience during the peak winter rush.
The extension includes two additional trips for both directions. Passengers are advised to note the revised dates:
- Train Number: 04081 (New Delhi to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra), Extended Dates (2026): January 09 & January 10 and Total Trips: 2
- Train Number: 04082 (Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra to New Delhi), Extended Dates (2026): January 10 & January 11 and Total Trips: 2
“100% Occupancy”: A Cost-Effective Success
The Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Shri Uchit Singhal, highlighted the train’s popularity among the public. He noted that the train has consistently seen nearly 100 percent occupancy, proving it to be a preferred choice for those looking for a cost-effective and timely travel option.
“The operation period of this special reserved train has once again been extended, as its earlier operations were also successful. The timing is convenient, and it has proved to be a budget-friendly option for the common traveler,” stated Shri Uchit Singhal.

This extension is expected to significantly ease the rush for devotees visiting the Holy Shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi.
