RAJOURI, FEB 19: In a major breakthrough in the fight against drug trafficking, Nowshera Police recovered 504 grams of heroin-like narcotic substance along with ₹5.14 lakh in cash during a search operation at Lamberi, Nowshera on Wednesday.
The search was conducted at the residence of Jaswinder Kumar alias Sonu by a police team led by Inspector Arjun Magotra, Station House Officer (SHO) of Nowshera Police Station.
As per the statement issued to The Newsroom 24 – Awaz, the recovery was made under Case FIR No. 178/2024, registered under sections 8, 21, 22, and 29 of the NDPS Act. With this latest seizure, the total haul in the case has reached 11 kg 804 grams of heroin-like substances and ₹5.14 lakh in cash.
“This recovery marks a significant success in the ongoing crackdown against drug trafficking networks operating in the region,” said an official from Nowshera Police. Authorities reaffirmed their commitment to eradicating the drug menace from Rajouri district and ensuring strict legal action against offenders.
Further investigations are underway to identify and apprehend other individuals linked to the drug network.
