As per the release issued to The Newsroom 24 – Awaz, acting on specific inputs, a team from Police Post (PP) Pounichack, led by IC PP Pounichack and assisted by IC BPP Sandwan, intercepted two vehicles at Bhagatpur Ghou Manhasan. The vehicles, a Mahindra Pickup (registration number JK02DH 3344) and a Tata Pickup (registration number JK02DL 1094), were found transporting bovines illegally.
The drivers of both vehicles managed to flee under the cover of darkness, abandoning the vehicles on the road. The rescued cattle were safely taken into custody, and both vehicles were seized.
In connection with the incident, two separate FIRs—No. 273/2024 and No. 274/2024—under Section 223/BNS 11 of the PCA Act have been registered at Police Station (PS) Domana. Investigations are underway to trace the culprits and identify any networks involved in bovine smuggling.
