Jammu/Kulgam, Jan 31:
Delegations representing Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS) employees across Jammu & Kashmir have intensified their efforts to resolve long-standing grievances, meeting with key political figures this past Saturday, January 31.
The discussions focused on a range of administrative hurdles, most notably the persistent issue of pay disparity that affects thousands of workers across the Union Territory.
High-Level Meet with Cabinet Minister Satish Sharma
In Jammu, a delegation led by Mr. Deepak Singh Ji called on Cabinet Minister Jenab Satish Sharma Ji. The meeting served as a platform for the MTS workforce to voice concerns regarding their current working conditions and administrative challenges.
Key Outcomes:
-
Assembly Focus: Minister Satish Sharma assured the delegation that their issues would be formally raised in the forthcoming Assembly session.
-
Direct Support: The Minister pledged “all possible help,” promising to take up the grievances with higher authorities immediately.
MLA Tarigami Briefed on Pay Disparity
Simultaneously, the All J&K MTS Association met with MLA Kulgam, Mr. Mohamad Yousuf Tarigami, to highlight a critical financial grievance: the wage gap within the MTS cadre.
The delegation was spearheaded by:
-
Mr. Abu Howaida (President, All J&K MTS Association)
-
Mr. Sanjay Kumar (Vice President, All J&K MTS Association)
“We have submitted a comprehensive representation to Mr. Tarigami. This wage disparity is not just a clerical error; it is an issue that adversely impacts the livelihoods of thousands of families across various government departments,” the Association leadership stated.
The Road Ahead for MTS Employees
The MTS cadre remains one of the largest workforces in the J&K government sector. The dual assurance from both a Cabinet Minister and a veteran legislator like Mr. Tarigami marks a significant step toward legislative intervention.
The employees are now looking toward the upcoming Assembly session, hopeful that these verbal assurances will translate into official policy changes.
