With the next monsoon season fast approaching, the JKPCC Kissan Department has issued a “red alert” to the administration over the unfinished recovery works in the border belt of Pargwal.
Bharat Priye, Chairman of the JKPCC Kissan Department, visited the flood-ravaged Akhnoor sector today to assess the ground reality following the devastating Chenab River overflows of late 2025. What he found, he claims, is a community pushed to the brink by administrative neglect.
The Crisis in Pargwal: Broken Banks and Empty Promises
During his tour of the border villages, Priye was met with harrowing accounts from local farmers whose livelihoods remain submerged in debt and debris. The floods of August and September 2025 didn’t just wash away crops; they dismantled the region’s agricultural infrastructure.

Expressing “serious concern,” Bharat Priye accused the Irrigation and Flood Control Department of gross negligence. He warned that without immediate intervention, the upcoming rainy season could trigger a repeat of last year’s catastrophe.
“The safety of border villages and the livelihood of our farmers cannot be ignored,” Priye asserted. “The government must act now to repair damaged flood protection structures before the monsoon arrives. Administrative negligence has put thousands of lives at risk.”
The Ultimatum: Relief or Rebellion
The JKPCC Kissan Department has laid out a clear set of demands for the UT administration:

The Warning: Priye issued a stern ultimatum: if these demands aren’t met promptly, the JKPCC Kissan Department will mobilize a mass agitation across the region. “The responsibility for such a protest will lie entirely with the government and its inaction,” he warned.
Community Response
Local residents, who accompanied the Chairman during his visit, expressed gratitude for the spotlight on their plight but remained weary of the “indifferent” attitude of officials. Priye assured the villagers that the Kissan Department would continue to serve as their voice until justice—and physical safety—is secured.
