Jammu, May 4:

Malkit Kaur, daughter of Dr. Sohan Singh and wife of Dr. Jaspal Singh Warwal, has been declared qualified for the award of the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Punjabi by the University of Jammu.

A resident of NB-3, Residential Quarter, New University Campus, she has successfully completed her advanced research, contributing significantly to the regional literary landscape.

A Comparative Study of Punjabi and Dogri Literature

Her doctoral research focused on the rich narrative traditions of the region, titled:

“Punjabi ate Dogri Kahani Da Tulnatmak Adhyan (Gurudev Singh Rupana Ate Raj Rahi Dian Kahanian De Parsang Vich)”

The thesis presents a comprehensive comparative study of Punjabi and Dogri short stories, specifically analyzing the prominent works of celebrated writers Gurudev Singh Rupana and Raj Rahi. Her research delves deep into the thematic, cultural, and stylistic parallels between the two languages.

Academic Guidance

Malkit Kaur completed her research under the expert supervision and guidance of Prof. Baljeet Kour of the University of Jammu.

Her successful defense has been widely appreciated by the academic community, who view her work as a vital bridge in understanding the shared literary heritage of the Punjabi and Dogri languages.
