Anantnag, September 12: Anantnag Police on Saturday intensified its crackdown on drug peddling by conducting a large-scale Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) at 20 locations in the Waghama area of the district.

According to officials, 13 suspected drug peddlers were picked up for questioning during the coordinated operation.

The operation was aimed at identifying and dismantling local networks allegedly involved in the illegal drug trade, besides disrupting the supply chain of narcotics in the area.

An official said the CASO was part of sustained and intelligence-based action being carried out by Anantnag Police against individuals and networks allegedly involved in drug peddling.

Police reiterated its zero-tolerance policy towards the illegal drug trade, stating that such operations would continue to be intensified to curb the menace of narcotics and protect the younger generation from drug abuse.

Further details regarding the questioning and any subsequent legal action are awaited.
