Jammu, March 28:
Continuing its aggressive campaign against the narcotics trade, the Jammu & Kashmir Police apprehended two drug peddlers in Kathua on Friday, seizing a quantity of heroin and a vehicle used in the crime.
The Arrest and Seizure
The operation took place on March 27, 2026, when a police team led by SHO Inspector Ashish Sharma and PSI Khem Raj was conducting routine patrolling in the Kathua jurisdictional area. Acting on reliable intelligence, the team intercepted a motorcycle (Registration No. PB06AS-3963) carrying two individuals acting under suspicious circumstances.
Upon a thorough search, police recovered approximately 10.34 grams of a heroin-like substance from their possession.
The Suspects
The two individuals arrested at the scene have been identified as:

Naginder Singh, son of Narinder Singh, resident of Kathua.

Rohit Singh, son of Ashok Singh, resident of Chambe Da Bagh, Kathua.
The motorcycle used during the commission of the crime was also seized by the authorities.
Legal Action
The operation was carried out under the guidance of Addl. SP Kathua, Sh. Rahul Charak, and DySP Hqrs. Kathua, Sh. Ravinder Singh, under the overall supervision of SSP Kathua, Ms. Mohita Sharma (IPS).
Following the recovery:

A case has been registered at Police Station Kathua under FIR No. 153/2026.

Charges have been filed under Sections 8/21/22/29 of the NDPS Act.

A detailed investigation is currently underway to trace the forward and backward linkages of the accused.
“This arrest is part of our ongoing drive to eliminate the drug menace and its propagators from the district,” a police official stated.
