KATHUA, OCT 27: In a commemorative T20 cricket match held in memory of Martyr PSI Deepak Sharma of the J&K Police, JKP Samba emerged victorious over JKP Kathua by 13 runs at the Sports Stadium DPL in Kathua on Sunday. The event drew a large crowd of spectators, all gathered to honor the late police officer through a spirited display of sportsmanship.
As per the release, JKP Samba won the toss and opted to bat first, setting a competitive target of 134 runs in 20 overs, losing seven wickets in the process. Leading the scoreboard for Samba was Addl. SP Garu Ram, who scored 65 runs off 63 balls, hitting seven boundaries. PSI Vikrant also contributed with 23 runs from 33 balls, including three boundaries.
In response, JKP Kathua struggled to reach the target, managing 121 runs in their allotted 20 overs. Anubhav led the scoring for Kathua with 29 runs, including four boundaries, while SgCt Harpreet Singh, also known as Bablu, added a quick 26 runs off just nine balls, smashing three boundaries and one six.
SSP Kathua Shobhit Saksena (IPS) showcased his bowling skills, taking one crucial wicket for just 21 runs in three overs, while Gourav added another wicket to Kathua’s tally, conceding only nine runs in his two overs.
With a solid performance, JKP Samba secured the win by 13 runs. For his outstanding batting, Addl. SP Garu Ram was named Man of the Match, a well-deserved recognition for his 65-run contribution that laid the foundation for Samba’s victory.
