Jammu, June 9:
Jammu and Kashmir Minister for Jal Shakti and Flood Control, Javed Ahmed Rana, visited the Marh constituency on Monday and inspected the damaged Tawi embankment in the Sandhwah and Bhagatpur areas of Block Marh.
During the visit, the minister took stock of the embankment that was breached during the previous rainy season and reviewed the situation on the ground. He was accompanied by local representatives and officials of the concerned departments.
Inspecting the affected stretch, Rana directed the concerned authorities to expedite repair and strengthening works on the embankment to prevent any further damage during the upcoming monsoon season.
The minister emphasized that the restoration work should be completed at the earliest to ensure the safety of residents living in nearby areas and to safeguard agricultural land and infrastructure from possible flooding.
Officials briefed the minister about the extent of the damage and the measures being planned for the restoration and reinforcement of the embankment.
The visit was aimed at assessing preparedness ahead of the rainy season and ensuring that necessary preventive measures are put in place to avoid flood-related risks in vulnerable areas of the Marh constituency.
Local residents welcomed the visit and expressed hope that the embankment repair work would be completed before the onset of heavy rains.
