Jammu Police Crack Jourian Theft Case: ‘Kalu DJ Wala’ Arrested, Stolen Gold and Cash Recovered

Jammu, May 7:

In a significant breakthrough, the Jammu (Rural) Police have successfully solved a high-profile burglary case in the Jourian area. Following a swift investigation, officials arrested a local suspect and recovered a substantial haul of stolen valuables, including gold jewelry and over ₹64,000 in cash.

The Incident

The case dates back to April 25, 2026, when a resident of Ward No. 04, Jourian, identified as Bhupinder Singh, filed a complaint at the Jourian Police Post. Singh reported that while his family was away attending a function in Mishriwala, unidentified burglars broke into his home and decanted with a large quantity of gold ornaments and other valuables.

Acting on the complaint, Akhnoor Police Station registered an FIR (No. 98/2026) under sections 331(3) and 305 of the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and launched a specialized probe.

The Arrest and Recovery

During the course of the investigation, police zeroed in on a suspect identified as Rohit Sharma (son of Abhimanyu Sharma), a resident of Ward No. 05, Jourian, popularly known in the area as “Kalu DJ Wala.”

Upon sustained questioning, Sharma confessed to the crime. Based on his disclosure, police teams conducted a raid at his residence and recovered the following items in the presence of independent witnesses:

  • Gold Ornaments: Rings, nose pins (nath), forehead ornaments (tika), and necklaces.

  • Silver Jewelry: Bangles, earrings, chains, and anklets.

  • Currency: Cash amounting to ₹64,090.

  • Electronics: Three smartwatches and one Android smartphone.

  • Additional Items: Various pieces of imitation jewelry and other household goods.

Furthermore, several other suspicious items were seized under Section 106 of the BNSS as the investigation continues to determine if the suspect was involved in other local thefts.

Police Commitment

A spokesperson for the Jammu (Rural) Police reiterated their commitment to maintaining law and order, stating that strict action will continue against criminal elements to ensure the safety of the community.

“The recovery of the stolen property within a short span demonstrates the efficiency of our field officers,” the official added. Further legal proceedings against the accused are currently underway.
