Srinagar, August 25: Director General of Police (DGP) J&K Nalin Prabhat, IPS, chaired a high-level security review meeting at Police Control Room (PCR) Kashmir on Monday to assess preparedness for the upcoming Eid Milad-un-Nabi (ﷺ) and other forthcoming events across Jammu and Kashmir.
The meeting was attended by Spl DGP Coordination J&K, IGP Kashmir Zone, IGP Jammu Zone, all Range DIGs, district SSPs/PDs, SSP PCR Kashmir, AIG (Ct & Int) PHQ and other senior police officers.
During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on security preparedness, deployment strategy, crowd management and traffic regulation to ensure the peaceful and smooth conduct of the upcoming events.
The DGP directed officers to maintain heightened vigilance and proactive policing, with special emphasis on foolproof security arrangements at major shrines, mosques and other religious places.
Particular focus was placed on Dargah Hazratbal and other prominent religious sites, where nightlong prayers and large congregations are expected. Officers were directed to ensure adequate security coverage and maintain close coordination among field formations for a prompt response to any emerging situation.
DGP Nalin Prabhat also called for strengthened surveillance at sensitive and vulnerable locations and effective deployment at strategic and high-footfall areas.
He further directed police officers to put in place comprehensive traffic regulation and route management plans around major religious places and along procession routes to facilitate the smooth movement of devotees.
The DGP also reviewed preparations for Raksha Bandhan, directing officers to make advance security and traffic arrangements around markets and temples while strengthening surveillance at prominent religious places.
The meeting concluded with the DGP stressing that all necessary security and traffic arrangements must be put in place well in advance to ensure the safe, peaceful and secure conduct of Eid Milad-un-Nabi and other forthcoming events across Jammu and Kashmir.
