In a vibrant display of communal harmony, Satish Sharma, the Minister for Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA), Transport, and Information Technology, joined the Christian community across Jammu to celebrate Christmas.

The Minister visited several key locations, including Birpur, Garrison Church, Gandhinagar, and Kunjwani, to participate in special prayers and festivities.

During his interactions, Minister Satish Sharma emphasized that Christmas transcends religious boundaries, representing universal ideals that are vital for a progressive society.

“Christmas is not merely a religious festival but a celebration of universal values such as love, peace, sacrifice, and service to humanity,” the Minister remarked while addressing the gatherings.

The Minister lauded the age-old tradition of peaceful coexistence in Jammu and Kashmir. He noted that the region has historically been a “shining example” of different faiths living together in harmony. He called upon all sections of society, especially the youth, to strengthen mutual respect and tolerance. Sharma stated that “true development” is only possible in an environment of peace and solidarity. He recalled the transformative role of Jesus Christ, noting that His teachings of selfless service and forgiveness continue to inspire the world.

Beyond the spiritual reflection, the Minister used the occasion to assure residents of the government’s unwavering commitment to protecting the cultural heritage and rights of every community in the Union Territory. He interacted with local residents and church leaders, praising their role in nurturing social responsibility and communal spirit.

The celebrations were marked by the singing of hymns, messages of goodwill, and a festive atmosphere that brought together people from various walks of life.
