Kathua, August 26: The Inter-Zone District-Level Tournament for Under-19 Boys and Girls, organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, Kathua, concluded successfully today with young athletes showcasing their talent, discipline and competitive spirit across various sporting events.
Teams from different zones of Kathua district participated in the tournament, competing in games including Kho-Kho, Kabaddi, Volleyball and Cricket.
In Kho-Kho, Zone Bhaddu defeated Zone Lakhanpur by a margin of eight points.
In Kabaddi, Zone Bani registered a convincing 20-point victory over Zone Lakhanpur.
In Volleyball, Zone Bani defeated Zone Malhar 2–0 sets to emerge victorious.
The Cricket final was played between Zone Mahanpur and Zone Barnoti. Batting first, Zone Barnoti scored 58 runs. Chasing the target, Zone Mahanpur successfully reached the total and secured a two-wicket victory to clinch the championship title, while Zone Barnoti finished as runners-up.
Aarush Bhadwal of Zone Mahanpur played a valuable knock of 22 runs off 13 balls, while Rohit of Zone Barnoti impressed with the ball, claiming three wickets.
The successful conclusion of the tournament marked the culmination of a highly competitive sporting event, providing young players with an important platform to showcase their skills and gain competitive experience.
The tournament was conducted under the overall supervision and guidance of the Department of Youth Services and Sports, Kathua. The department appreciated the efforts of all participating players, officials, technical staff and organizing committees for their contribution towards the smooth and successful conduct of the tournament.
