BJP Burying Everything, Will Have to Face Defeat
SRINAGAR, SEPT 30: National Conference (NC) President and former parliamentarian, Dr. Farooq Abdullah, on Monday expressed confidence that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will face defeat in the upcoming elections, emphasizing the importance of voters making the right decision.
“We are expecting people to take the right decision for the restoration of special status and other matters,” Dr. Abdullah said, as reported by the news agency Kashmir News Observer (KNO). He highlighted the need for the electorate to consider the long-term implications of their choices, especially in the context of Jammu and Kashmir’s unique political landscape.
Speaking on the BJP’s continuous criticism of the NC, Abdullah expressed satisfaction, stating, “I am happy that BJP has been targeting NC as it is the party that is fighting against them. BJP will have to face a defeat.” He reaffirmed his belief in the National Conference’s efforts to counter the BJP’s agenda in the region.
In response to the BJP’s recent remarks on Article 370, which the party claims has been permanently buried, Dr. Abdullah commented, “The party has been burying everything.” His remarks come in light of the ongoing debate over the abrogation of Jammu and Kashmir’s special status, a key issue in the region.
Regarding the Waqf Bill, the former Chief Minister of the erstwhile state of Jammu & Kashmir said that the Joint Parliamentary Committee is currently reviewing the bill. “Let it be brought to the Parliament, and the NC, as part of the INDI Alliance, will take steps accordingly,” Abdullah added.
