Jammu, Jaune 6:

To further strengthen passenger safety and smooth train operations, Northern Railway, Jammu Division is undertaking a major technical upgrade. An advanced Electronic Interlocking system will be commissioned at Bajalta station on the Jammu Tawi – Udhampur section along with BPCL/IOCL/HPCL’s CUF railway siding. In this connection, a Pre-NI/NI block has been taken from 07 June to 11 June 2026.

What will this upgrade achieve?

With Electronic Interlocking, operation of signals and points will become fully computer-controlled. This will make train movement faster, safer and free from human error. Also, the new railway siding being built at Bajalta will further improve fuel supply in Jammu & Kashmir.

Key points of the block:
Location: Bajalta (BLA) station, Jammu Tawi – Udhampur section

Fully Cancelled Trains (From June 8 to June 10):  Train No. 74909, Train No. 74910 and Train No. 74907

(Note: Train No. 74906 will remain fully cancelled from June 9 to June 11)

Regulated/Delayed Trains (Running Late Enroute):

Several long-distance and regional trains passing through the section will experience temporary delays and regulation enroute during the block period. These include:  Train No. 22461, Train No. 14609, Train No. 12445, Train No. 15656, Train No. 12919  and Train No. 12475.

In an official statement, Public Relations Inspector for Jammu Division, Raghvender Singh, expressed regret for the temporary disruption but emphasized the long-term necessity of the project.

“Railway administration expresses regret for the temporary inconvenience, but this work is absolutely necessary for faster, safer, and uninterrupted rail service in the future. Jammu Division remains committed to passenger convenience and safety,” Singh stated.
