JAMMU, NOV 30: Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Jammu-Samba-Kathua Range, Shiv Kumar Sharma (IPS) on Saturday conducted a comprehensive security review of various Ring Road locations in Jammu and Samba districts.
As per the release issued to The Newsroom 24 – Awaz, accompanied by SP South Jammu Ajay Sharma, SDPO R.S. Pura Nikhil Gogna, and SHO Miran Sahib, the DIG inspected key areas, including Vijaypur, Sikandarpur Kothey, R.S. Pura, Bishnah, and Phallain Mandal.
During the visit, DIG Sharma also inspected the under-construction toll plaza at Sardarey Chak, Jammu, where he met with representatives of the construction company. He emphasized the importance of implementing robust security measures, including the installation of CCTV cameras, a police post, bunkers, police morchas, and an effective lighting management system.
To enhance public engagement, DIG Sharma conducted an awareness program near the Ring Road, urging residents to report suspicious activities, such as terror threats, bovine smuggling, drug peddling, criminal activities, cyber fraud, or eve-teasing, to the nearest police station or post. He assured the public that the J&K Police are fully equipped and committed to addressing any security concerns and serving the community.
Further directives were issued to police officers to strengthen Naka points, enhance routine patrolling on the Ring Road, and maintain a vigilant watch on anti-social and anti-national elements. DIG Sharma also instructed officers to address public grievances promptly, share key police contact numbers with the community, and ensure that crime control patrols operate efficiently.
“Criminals must be dealt with an iron hand,” DIG Sharma stressed, urging subordinates to perform their duties with alertness and professionalism, particularly at vulnerable points along the Ring Road.
