Expressing great concern over power and water crisis in all parts of Jammu region besides unprecedented price hike of all commodities , Senior leaders of JKPCC have asked the government to take immediate steps in this regard besides urging the government to ensure people oriented development by involvement of people through Gram Sabhas in the finalization of plans in the absence of Panchayats, ULBs, BDCs and DDCs.
Addressing a press conference here today at PCC HQ Rajiv Bhawan Jammu, senior functionaries & leaders of the party Mr. Raman Bhalla Working President, Mr. Ravinder Sharma Chief Spokesperson JKPCC, Shri ved Mahajan In charge PCC HQ Shri Manmohan Singh senior congress leader & Ex District President Jammu Urban and Neeraj Gupta Chief Media Coordinator said that in the absence of Panchayats, ULBs, BDCs and DDCs, the development has become MLA centric rather than people centric ,as entire plans for fund’s utilization is at the discretion of MLAs, leaving no scope for left out sections and areas which are not on the priority of concerned MLA.
They referred to numerous recruitment scams in J&K under the UT regime & said youth are frustrated under BJP regime.
Referring to Panchayats and ULB elections , they said that elections to all basic PRIs should be held at the earliest after finalising reservations to OBCs on the pattern of women, SC and STs but till then this years plans finalisations should be inclusive and people orented. with more involvement of general public. A large percentage of population would be deprived of the developmental needs if the system is not made inclusive.
They questioned the stand of government and SEC with regards to rationalisation of population of different Muncipal wards and the delimitation of DDC constituencies, which overlap MLA constituencies spread over to two Assembly constituencies, as the delimitation of Assembly segments took place after creaof DDCs
The system of delimitation and rationalisation of population should be transparent and impartial under superintendence and control of SEC,they added.

They also demanded review of government decision to stop recruitment process and ensure more job opportunities to unemployed youth.
