Ram Madhav

SRINAGAR, OCT 10: Senior BJP leader Ram Madhav has confirmed that Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood will be reinstated, but it will come with certain conditions.

In an interview, Madhav reiterated the BJP’s commitment to restoring statehood, a promise made “on the floor of the House.” However, when questioned about a specific timeline, he avoided providing a definite answer, taking a more reserved approach.

Madhav highlighted the region’s transformation over the past decade, noting that Jammu and Kashmir has shed its militant-driven image and moved towards a more peaceful environment. He emphasized that this shift was significant for the region’s development and stability.

He also pointed to the participation of Jamaat in the electoral process, calling it a “remarkable achievement.” According to Madhav, this development is a testament to the region’s newfound stability. However, he stressed that for peace to persist, regional leaders must provide assurances against the resurgence of separatist tendencies.

“For full statehood to be possible, those in power in J&K must reassure Delhi that they won’t revive separatist tendencies,” Madhav stated. He underlined that this guarantee is essential for the Central government to consider granting full statehood to the region.
