DODA, NOV 23: The Cyber Crime Investigation Unit (CCIU) of the Police in Doda has successfully recovered an amount of ₹1,58,296 that was fraudulently taken from multiple individuals through online scams.
According to a statement issued by the police to The Newsroom 24 – Awaz, complaints were lodged by 11 individuals, including Mohd Sikander (Parray Pura, Doda), Amran Saleem (Hartaryan, Udhampur), and Ashiq Hussain (Bhagwan, Doda), among others. These individuals had fallen victim to various online fraud schemes.
The CCIU team, employing advanced technical expertise and relentless efforts, managed to trace and recover the defrauded amount. Some of the victims personally expressed gratitude to SSP Doda, Sandeep Mehta (JKPS), and the CCIU team for their prompt and efficient action.
Since its establishment, CCIU Doda has achieved remarkable success, recovering a total of ₹27.8 lakh in online fraud cases. This success underscores the unit’s dedication to combating cybercrimes and assisting the public in recovering their lost funds.
SSP Doda, Sandeep Mehta, urged citizens to stay vigilant against online scams and report any fraudulent activity promptly. He advised the public to use the National Cyber Helpline (1930) or file complaints online at www.cybercrime.gov.in. Additionally, the SSP emphasized the importance of immediate reporting to the CCIU Unit in Doda for swift action.
